🦘 Aussie study shows WFH benefits

Inside: Spring Health is hiring in engineering and marketing. Plus: an Aussie study shows WFH benefits, one Kentucky city lures remote workers, Amazon enforces more RTO, modern home office upgrades, and more.

Good Morning,

Over the weekend, I caught up with some friends who are in the process of buying a house in the small Midwestern town where they both grew up. Thanks to their fully remote jobs, they’ve decided to move closer to family before starting a family of their own.

But here’s the surprising part: as part of their mortgage application, the bank required written letters from both of their company CEOs (!) confirming that their remote work arrangements would continue.

At first, it sounded like overkill — but I think it makes sense.

Over the last five years, plenty of homebuyers moved far from their company offices based on the promise of remote work, only to be forced back by return-to-office mandates. Mortgage lenders have likely seen enough defaults tied to those reversals that they’re now trying to reduce that risk upfront.

So now, in 2025, buying a house while working remotely might mean getting your CEO to vouch for your flexibility.

What a time.
