📊 Remote trends by industry

Inside: CommonSpirit is hiring virtual nurses, engineers, and real estate professionals. Plus: Negotiate out of RTO, a new remote job board, Bansko shines for digital nomads, interviewing advice, and more.

Good Morning,

Another performative morning routine made its way around the internet this last week, reminding me just how silly online content creation can be. Apparently there’s some health benefit to rubbing banana peels on your skin? (I’m not a doctor and this is not medical advice 😂)

But there’s something to be said for routines. And maybe I should put some thought into mine so less of my mornings begin with me immediately sitting in front of my laptop… it’s a blessing and curse of remote work.

COMPANY SPOTLIGHT
  • CommonSpirit Health is a non-profit, Catholic health system dedicated to advancing health for all people. With approximately 175,000 employees and 25,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians, CommonSpirit operates 140 hospitals and more than 2,200 care centers serving sites across 24 states.

  • 151 open roles, primarily in Virtual Nursing, Engineering, and Real Estate.

  • As a major health system, most jobs in the organization require an in-person component, but as seen across healthcare, many of the administrative roles have remained remote or hybrid since the pandemic.

JOBS, JOBS, JOBS

No monkeying around

TestGorilla, a candidate hiring software company, recently launched their own remote job board, which only features remote and hybrid job opportunities.

It’s still in beta, but it already has plenty of filters and I’d expect it to continue to grow in a way that serves their customers and audience well.

STATS

68%

That’s the percentage of employees who are working primarily from an office, which doubled between 2023 and 2024.

This is data from a McKinsey study we’ve covered before, but the Visual Capitalist site put together a chart showing industry breakdown:

You’ll see that — in this limited example — Education and Consumer/Retail have seen some of the highest levels of office work across all industries.

It can sometimes be discouraging to see such a quick increase in office work just a few years after the pandemic took commutes out of our lives for a little while. But if you’re looking strictly for a remote job, it might pay to look for them in the industries that have more remote jobs than others.
