š§ 10 "essential" gadgets for remote workers
Inside: Deel is hiring in sales, engineering, HR, and more. Plus: Duke's remote policy attracts talent, Revolut trolls JPMorgan, The Portfolio Path for careers, navigating remote work in sales, and more.
Good Morning,
I was pleasantly surprised last week to stumble upon a case study on remote work benefits in higher ed administration, especially after seeing several universities follow the private sector RTO trend lately.
Duke University shared a report last month highlighting the positive impact that employee location flexibility has had for its organization. 33% of Duke employees work remotely every single day, and more employees are on hybrid schedules today than a few years ago.
Dukeās stance, allowing functional leaders to set their own location policies, attracts top talent from all over the country; they have remote employees working from 25 states.
The Vice President of Human Resources, Antwan Lofton, said: āWe are able to be positioned as an employer of choice because we have many different options for what a Duke workday looks like.ā
Sound like a good deal? If so, hereās a link to the Duke jobs page. They donāt have a remote location filter, but based on their policy, itās likely theyād be flexible if you donāt need to be student-facing.

SELLING REMOTELY
A salespersonās guide to WFH/RTO
RepVue, a company that provides resources, jobs, and other materials specifically for sales teams and sales reps, penned this great piece last year about how Sales reps and leaders should navigate remote work or the return-to-office.
The biggest challenge remote work presents to sales teams is when managers need to evaluate mid-level talent. Itās not always easy just to look at numbers and evaluate a sales repās potential. And for sales reps working remotely, itās even more important to consistently update the CRM, so thereās no question about your sales activity if anyone in leadership gets curious.
Itās a great read for anyone in sales, especially those navigating a remote environment.
And remember: measuring outputs is always the best strategy.
āRegardless of where you work, sales success is ultimately measured by results ā deals closed, revenue generated ā not hours spent at a desk. Reps who consistently deliver results will have the freedom to work where theyāre most productive.ā
