Zillowās CEO just reiterated that their remote-first policy has ābeen fantastic,ā continuing to help them attract top talent and boost employee retention.
Remote workers contribute to their local economies, obviously, but they also contribute to higher levels of entrepreneurship, according to GoDaddyās research division.
Audio was leaked last week of Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan, telling colleagues that WFH doesnāt work, among other shortsighted thoughts, in an expletive-filled tirade. Hereās a YouTube video with an excerpt of the rant.
Many workers are actively seeking new roles because of new office policies and making employment decisions based on those policies. One employee interviewed in this article turned down a JPMorgan job offer, instead accepting a competing offer that allowed fully remote work.
According to a Ladders report, workers earning $250,000+ are more likely to work remotely than those in any other field. āThose looking for high-paying remote jobs will see the least competition in healthcare, science and engineering roles and will face a tougher time securing positions in business development, sales and marketingā
Business Insider documented the hybrid policies of each of the Big 4 accounting firms: PwC, Deloitte, KMPG, and EY. Of these, it appears PwC is the most stringent when it comes to requiring time in office.
President Trumpās plan to force federal workers to return to the office āstands to erode the powers of organized labor to shield government workers from unwanted changes,ā according to the Wall Street Journal.

Office days up; effectiveness flat
New research by McKinsey, a prominent global consulting firm, found that in the last two years, the number of people working 4+ days in the office has doubled, going from 34% to 68% ā but they follow this data with āUnfortunately, this increase in togetherness hasnāt translated into significant gains in workplace effectiveness.ā
I will shout this from the rooftops until someone proves otherwise:
Company leaders do not have any reliable data that shows working from an office improves company success, by any measurement. If this data did exist ā anywhere ā the executives hounding for return-to-office would have shared it by now.
McKinseyās report is only the lastest of many studies that would draw the same conclusion.
The fact is, remote work is often better for individuals, and itās clearly better for companies that intentionally operate as remote organizations. When companies want to improve their level of talent and retention, they are smart to offer remote work.
For now, we just have to put up with people like this Amazon executive who said, āI donāt have data to back [RTO] up, but I know itās better.ā

The McKinsey report referenced above also shared that 39% of people intend to quit their jobs soon, near the peak highs of the āGreat Resignation.ā
