đŠđťâđź Return-to-office prompts execs to leave
Among job seekers actively looking for senior-level roles, 36% said their decision to seek a new job was influenced by their current or previous employerâs RTO policy.
Similarly, a third of these executive job seekers have opted out of an interview process because of an office time requirement.
These results are especially interesting because senior-level employees are often the ones tasked with managing and enforcing return-to-office policies. This proves many of those executives would likely prefer to work from home themselves. But they also want to keep their jobs⌠for now. (Business Insider)
âď¸ The most common âwork-from-anywhereâ job titles
Most remote jobs have some type of location restriction â most commonly that employees be in a particular country or time zone.
But the true work-from-anywhere jobs with zero location restrictions, as rare as they are, do exist. And the titles listed below are the ones that are most likely to have this benefit:
Account executive
Content writer
Data analyst
DevOps engineer
Editor
Engineering manager
Marketing manager
Product designer
Product manager
Software engineer
If youâre considering a career shift and you really want to work from around the world without any restrictions, applying to these job titles could be your ticket. (CNBC)
đ§ Gen Z is competing with AI
A recent survey from Intelligent.com found that 78% of hiring managers said they expect their company will lay off recent graduates due to AI.
While AI canât fully replace the critical thinking and innovative problem-solving that humans provide, it can certainly take over many of the routine and repetitive tasks that newly hired graduates are assigned. This makes recent graduates among the most vulnerable for having their roles consolidated or even eliminated through wide-spread AI adoption.
While there are a wide range of reasons AI could impact early-career roles, and most jobs overall are probably safe, the risk of being replaced entirely by new technology shouldnât be ignored.
On the flip side, 95% of survey respondents said they would be more likely to hire a recent graduate with a background in AI.
The best analogy is to think about AI like a calculator: in all likelihood, it wonât replace a personâs entire role, and a person with the ability to use it is going to be far more valuable to their company than the tool would be on its own. (The Business Journals)

đˇđť Office-to-residential conversions on the rise
Empty offices and hotels have been converted to private residences for decades now, but the rate of office-to-residential conversions has been rising in recent years due to the proliferation of remote work.
These cities saw the highest number of units converted from office to residential in 2023:
Peachtree Corners, Georgia
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Indianapolis, Indiana
Alexandria, Virginia
Cleveland, Ohio
As weâve written before, the âhousing crisisâ across the US is also a factor that could drive demand for these conversions â especially given last yearâs initiative by the federal government to encourage these specific projects. (New York Times)

đź A history of the five-day workweek
This is an insightful read as a surprising number of companies have shifted to a 4-day workweek â many of which are also remote-friendly organizations. Itâs fascinating to think about how five days became the standard, when humans were living in starkly different economic circumstances than we are today.
As the intro states: âUnderstanding the sometimes arbitrary origins of the modern workweek might inform the movement to shorten it.â (The Atlantic)
