The biggest free remote & hybrid job board in the US

🍔 Some blue collar roles are going remote - and have huge potential growth ahead. This article showcases a company called Bite Ninja, which gives gig workers the ability to take drive-thru orders for restaurants while working from home. (USA Today)

🚐 Remote work is changing hotel strategies. Hilton, Marriott, and other major hotel groups are creating extended-stay chains aimed at remote workers. These chains are reallocating space from hotel restaurants and spacious lobbies over to larger private rooms for more space to work. (New York Times)

📍 Work-From-Anywhere Weeks are a unique perk used by companies that require time in the office, so that their employees can still have some benefits of remote work. The obvious drawback is that this remote work is only given for a short amount of time, sometimes on specific dates that the company chooses. (Bloomberg)

🚗 Lyft’s CEO cited snacks as a reason to return to the office. Given the resentment employees felt when the new CEO mandated a return to office in April, the comment about snacks was taken especially poorly by employees. (Wall Street Journal)

🧞‍♂️ The hybrid work genie isn’t going back in the bottle (as the Lyft CEO might have hoped). According to a workplace analytics CEO, hybrid companies will need to use these three differentiators so their future offices can best accommodate employees:

  • Virtual collaboration technology

  • Innovative office design

  • Generative AI

Plus, by employing data to find labor results ethically - and not using intrusive tracking technology - companies and employees can work together to create the best work environments possible. (Forbes)

🪑 Amazon’s #1 best seller in Computer Gaming Chairs is now $46.99, which is discounted by 53% from the list price of $99.99. (Amazon)

🖥 PCWorld calls this portable monitor “pricey but alluring” with a kickstand that sets it apart from similar options. (PCWorld)

🧠 The “most underrated” skill at work: self-awareness. A Harvard-trained neuroscientist discusses how to develop it and turn it into your competitive advantage. (CNBC)

You may remember we mentioned The Hill’s very misleading article about the supposed health detriments of working remotely at the beginning of July.

Last week, taking a far different tack, The Hill published an article titled “Remote employees work longer and harder, studies show.” I assume this was an attempt to assuage all the readers who were upset by the previous WFH article. While it cites far more relevant data, there are plenty of caveats, so maybe give it a read before you blindly send it to your boss 😏

Another friendly reminder that polarizing article headlines are big media’s best friend! Keep an eye out for that clickbait.

Cheers,
Grant
